Step 2:  Purchase and submit an Ancestry DNA test. This typically takes 6-8 weeks depending on how busy the lab is now. This is your responsibility.  If you have already done this step you are just ahead of schedule.  Check our FAQ to find out who should take the test and why we use Ancestry DNA.

Step 5: So, with your permission we will call or send a letter to your biological parent or family. This is where we try to smooth over some of the difficulties that come with the first contact. The most common first response is “Oh, that can’t be!”. We will help explain the process and also encouraging them to take a DNA test to confirm for their sake as well as our clients. We can request health information, and request photos. We can even request a chance to meet.
